Tired of looking at your current flooring?  Have you considered purchasing oriental rugs that have fantastic craftsmanship and you know the adult artisans will be given a fair price, so they can provide for their families and themselves?  Well ...

The staff and community volunteers of Ten Thousand Villages are pleased to once again offer handmade rugs from Pakistan during the Oriental Rug Event on October 1-4, 2008.  We will set up a temporary rug store for these few days at The Cathedral of All Souls, 2 Angle St., Biltmore Village.  The store will be open from  from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.  Click on the map to the left to get directions from downtown Asheville and Interstate 40.

We will feature a collection of over 300 heirloom-quality hand knotted Oriental rugs from Pakistan. The rugs will be available for sale in a variety of sizes and colors, so please come join us and touch, stand in awe at their beauty, and see the loving care the Pakistan artisans put into each unique rug.

Are you like me and will have a hard time visualizing your potential purchase in your home or office?  No problem -- come to the event, select your possible choices and you can take them home for one day to "try them out."

August 28th – September 8th ~ World Caravan Sale
Ten Thousand Villages will hold its annual World Caravan Sale. An end of summer sale with reduced prices on obsolete, discontinued, slightly damaged, and nicely repaired merchandise. Discounts will range from 30-75% off of the regular retail price on items still uniquely special. Come parade on through the store to see what the World Caravan has to offer.

October 25th ~ Choctoberfest
Celebrate Fair Trade and Chocolate! Come into Ten Thousand Villages during the week of October 20-25th and take a quiz about Fair Trade practices and cocoas farmers. All quiz entries will be entered into a drawing to win some delicious chocolate prizes. Fair Trade Chocolate samples, hot chocolate, and mouth watering recipes made with organic chocolate will be for sample on Saturday, October 25th 10:00-6:00. Choctoberfest is a time to honor and celebrate the small cocoa farm cooperatives we support through Fair Trade.
